Mission Statement: The New South Poetry Slam aims to provide space for collegiate southern poets to redefine southern identity by emphasizing the value of community events over slam. We value hospitality and creating community where poets living in the south can come together. We aim to constantly be redefining what it means to be southern by both confronting the past and reimagining the future. 

Job Overview: The Social Media & Marketing director is in charge of the brand development of the New South Poetry Conference. You will be responsible for overseeing all of the social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram) both before the conference and during the conference. You would also be responsible for developing different content and vetting content produce by other staff. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
Develop relevant content topics 
Manage all published content (images, video and written).
Develop and expand community outreach efforts.
Oversee design (ie: Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, Blog, etc.).
Design, create and manage promotions and Social ad campaigns.
Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation. 
Analyze and tweak strategy as needed.
Demonstrate ability to map out a comprehensive marketing plan.

Qualifications:
Previous experience working with relevant software (Wix, Canva, Adobe Suite or Photoshop) 
Previous experience with social media 
Strong sense of aesthetics
Ability to work well with minimal supervision 
 

** An establish ideology about the purpose of poetry AND/OR a personal investment in redefining southern identity 
** Being located in Atlanta is NOT required
